The Half Moon in Cuxham is a 17th Century thatched country pub, located on the edge of the glorious Chiltern downs. The pub is made up of a series of cosy and quirky rooms as well as the bar with its log burner, the bar takes you out on to a pretty terrace flanked by English lavender and lush herbaceous borders Former chef to the Saudi Royal family - as well as a number of celebrities - our chef has created a gastronomic experience that combines both the atmosphere of a country inn with a seasonal menu that would be equally at home in the finest bistro, using only the best locally sourced meat and vegetables.
The Half Moon is rightly renowned for fabulous seafood dishes, with daily catches landed overnight in Brixham and could include anything from line-caught sea bass to fresh Cornish oysters, crab and lobster. The menu changes daily, with starters such as twice baked Roquefort cheese soufflé , baked king scallops, garlic butter, gruyere and brioche crumbs, complementing main courses such as slow-cooked pork collar and 10oz Hambledon rib steak on the bone. Desserts also change regularly and feature classics such as dark chocolate marquise candied blood orange, and the ever-popular caramelized lemon tart.
The bar is famed for being friendly, welcoming and very comfortable, and is home to an extensive selection of draught ales and lagers, plus a wine list featuring many reasonably priced fine wines from both the Old and New Worlds, with many available by the glass, ensuring that there's a choice for every pocket.
A visit to the Half Moon is always special; the perfect place to unwind in style and enjoy the finer side of life
