Description

The Hope & Anchor is a former 17th century coaching inn. Like many of the inns and pubs in the area it was constructed from former ship’s timber, you can even see some of the sailors initials carved into some of the timbers in the pub! It is a traditional pub with a warm atmosphere and a large garden incorporating a heated smoking shelter and an Aunt Sally pitch. There are three stunning double en-suite letting rooms, all furnished in a contemporary style, with flatscreen TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The Hope and Anchor offers good home cooked food on weekday lunchtimes and evenings, as well as Sunday lunches.

There is always a lot going on at the Hope & Anchor.  Throughout the summer (till the end of September) they are open all day every day from 12 noon.  Until the end of August they're barbecueing in the sunny garden every Sunday from 12.30 till around 6pm.

The Hope & Anchor are well known for their support of live music which is on every Saturday and often Friday and Saturday in the summer months.  On Friday 3rd September, two very popular tribute bands, The Purple Zeppelins and The Echoes are playing.  Tickets cost £3 in advance or £5 on the door.

And look out for a charity 5-aside football tournament on 22nd August to raise money for Robbie the Robot at the Royal Berks, which will be used to treat local cancer patients, so please support if you are able.
