The Battle of Britain is a friendly family pub with two bars and a large beer garden. There is a play area in the garden, including an adventure playground for the kids. The bars have a range of facilities including a pool table, dart board, jukebox, and a big screen for sports. Food and snacks are available throughout the day, or a delicious Sunday lunch is served in the Spitfire Restaurant. The Battle of Britain pub was originally a long wooden hut which stood just behind the current building's location. It was erected by RAF personnel in 1947. In 1961, the owners of the pub purchased Shears Green House, which is now the current Battle of Britain pub that everyone knows. The old hut was demolished in May 1962. The Bell - known locally as the Rat – is a well known resting place for walkers and locals; no one passes by this pub unless on foot!
